Youth of Nkoranza are threatening to shut down government institutions in the town as they continue with their protest over the freezing of their investments with some Microfinance Companies.

Residents of the area are part of hundreds of Ghanaians whose monies have been locked up in the accounts of DKM Diamond Microfinance following a suspension of its operations by the Bank of Ghana.

Today’s District Assembly elections have been called off in the area over fears of a possible outbreak of violence.

Leader of the agitating residents, Kofi Ohene Sakyi told Starr News government institutions will not be allowed to function if their concerns are not addressed within seven days.

“We have planned and we have advised ourselves that no state institution including, the Ghana Commercial Bank, ADB and the Education office in this constituency will work if we are not paid our monies after seven days.

“These institutions created employment for about thousand people in this community. And as we speak, about 99% of the people here have their monies with them and they are not getting them. So the entire community is waging this campaign,” he fumed.
