Veteran sports journalist, Dan Kwaku Yeboah, has praised the late President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, stating that his accomplishments in sports and the economy are unmatched.

According to him, during Nkrumah's six-year presidency, Ghana secured two African Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles and two Olympic medals.

Yeboah noted that it took nearly 50 years for these records to be equalled, emphasizing the unparalleled nature of Nkrumah's achievements.

Speaking on Peace FM, Yeboah highlighted Nkrumah's exceptional contributions to sports and the economy.

"I would choose Nkrumah as the best, not just in football but in all sports. During his six or eight years in office, we won two AFCON trophies and two Olympic medals. It took us 50 to 60 years to match that record.

"The third Olympic medal came during Nyantakyi's era when Nana Addo was in office, even though it was during the COVID era. Nkrumah has no equal in sports and every aspect of the economy," he said in Twi in a video shared on Kwaku Yeboah TV on YouTube on August 7, 2024.

This statement follows President Akufo-Addo's Founders' Day remarks, where he expressed disagreement with the idea that Nkrumah alone founded Ghana.

The comment sparked significant backlash on social media against the government for undermining the late president.
