Nkrumah’s 105 birth Anniversary observed at Apam

The chairman of the Gomoa West District Oversight Committee of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), Dr Mark Nii Lamptey, has appealed to workers to work selflessly with commitment and dedication as was done by late President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He also appealed to African leaders to ensure good governance to promote the living condition of their nationals.

Dr Lamptey was addressing students from the five junior high schools at Apam as part of activities marking the 105th birthday celebration Dr Nkrumah.

The schools are Salvation Army, Royal Preparatory School, Nyamekye International, Faith Academy and Anglican JHS.

He said one of the objectives of the APRM was to bring government policies to the people in order to stamp out corruption and malpractices in their societies.

Mr E. K. Glogoe, Assistant Director at the Gomoa West District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, said Dr Nkrumah was being remembered because of the good work he did for the country.

He said Dr Nkrumah was selfless, did not amass wealth and did all he could to unite Africa and added “His enemies did not understand him and plotted to overthrow him”.

Mr Glogoe said without dedication and hard work, no one could achieve results and appealed to the students to study hard.

The Presiding Member of the Gomoa West District Assembly, Mr Eyiah Quansah who chaired the function advised the students to try to change their colleagues who engage in immoral lifestyles.

The function was sponsored jointly by the US Peace Corps and the Rotary Club of Apam.
