Nkrumah's ambassador-at-large pass away

On 24 December 2011 at about 10pm, Comrade M. Kofi Ameko, President Kwame Nkrumah's Ambassador-At-Large during the Conakry Years, passed away.

Comrade Ameko was a leading trade unionist alongside John Kofi Tettegah and others and proceeded to be Ghana's Ambassador to Rwanda-Urundi during the Nkrumah regime. After the 24 February 1966 coup when many decided to adjust the the so-called change Comrade Kofi Ameko stood steadfast.

He was a target of the US Government and the Danquah-Busia political fraternity so he could not return to Ghana until the Busia government was overthrown. In the 1980s, Comrade Kofi Ameko was a member of the Kwame Nkrumah Revolutionary Guards during which period I (Explo Nani-Kofi) worked very closely with him. Comrade Ameko will be remembered by all those who worked with him in Trade Union Congress (TUC), Osu Castle (Head of State's Office), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the All Africa Trade Union Federation, the Nkrumaist movement and the progressive movement in general.
