Saltpond C/R), Jan 28, GNA - Four Nkrumaist Movements in the Central Region have passed a vote of no confidence in the national leadership of the CPP headed by Dr Edmund Delle and called for their resignation "with immediate effect."
In a statement issued at Saltpond on Friday, leaders of Concerned Nkrumaist, the Organisational Committee, the Youth, and the Osagyefo Youth Movement, said since the present leadership took over the reign of the CPP, "The Party has been sinking day by day". They attributed the downward trend of affairs in the Party to incompetence, mal-administration, intimidation, self-conceitedness and inordinate personal ambition on the part of the leadership. The statement, which was signed by Mr Kofi Aganu-Luvo, the Regional Secretary of the Concerned Nkrumaists, said Dr Delle in his post-election speech over two years ago promised to open party offices in all the constituencies, provide each constituency with a vehicle, employ administrative staff and pay all constituency organisers but had failed to fulfil any of the promises. The statement accused Dr Delle for failing to mobilise funds for rallies and to help parliamentary candidates during the electioneering campaigns for the last general elections, hence the party's abysmal performance. "We, in the Central Region state emphatically that the Red Cock must remain the emblem of the CPP and under no circumstances should it be changed."
The statement disassociated the four movements and the Regional Secretariat of the Party from a statement made by Comrade Araba Bentsi-Enchil on the dismissal of the Party's Parliamentarians, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum, Mr Freddie Blay and Mr Kojo Armah and pledged their unflinching support for the MPs. The statement challenged Comrade Bentsi-Enchil to show the 11 constituency offices she told the National Executive Council that she had opened in the Region. "We demand that the leadership step down by February. If the leadership refuses to go by this demand, we would use constitutional means to force them out of office," it added.
