Nkwanta endorses President's nominee

Nkwanta, June 21, GNA - The Nkwanta District Assembly in the Volta Region on Monday endorsed Mr Joseph Booker Yaw Dente as the new District Chief Executive (DCE).

Mr Dente, 45, a trade unionist, got 36 of the 44 votes with eight against, representing 81.8 per cent. He said he saw his appointment as a call to serve and not to lord it over his people.

''My administration will open a new chapter in the development of the district and I appeal to all stakeholders to cooperate with me,'' Mr Dente said Mr Joseph Nayan, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister congratulated the Nkwanta Assembly for putting aside political inclinations to endorse Mr Dente. Mr Nayan, who is the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta-North, appealed to the assembly members to put the interest of the district and the nation above sectional interests.

Mr Gershon Gbediame, the MP for Nkwanta-South, urged the assembly members to use their energies for development rather than fanning sectional differences.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, called for a halt to the "blame game" and to adopt a collective approach to finding solutions to the problems of the district. He appealed to the members to fashion out innovative ways to increase revenue and to ensure speedy development of the area.
