John Mahama, the former president, has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as unprecedented levels of corruption.

He suggests that there is much to be desired in the way the Akufo-Addo-led government is managing the country.

Addressing the media in Accra on Sunday, July 7, 2024, Mr. Mahama said, "What we have now should obviously never be a yardstick for governance. My goal is to launch a renewed fight against corruption."

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) served notice that a future NDC government will investigate all corrupt activities that have transpired under the current Akufo-Addo-led government.

"...and Ghanaians can be assured that drastic steps will be taken to punish the corrupt officials and their accomplices in this present administration. No participant in this NPP corruption enterprise will be spared, and we will also take action to reclaim what has been unlawfully taken from the Ghanaian people."

He pledged to ensure that his appointees are held accountable at all times.
