No clinic for Korle-Bu patients on Friday

Accra, Sept. 05, GNA - The Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday said there would not be able to run the normal Out Patients Clinics for patients on Friday, September 23 because the funeral for the three doctors, who died in a motor accident about three weeks ago, fell on that day.

A statement Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the Hospital signed, said a skeletal staff would be on stand by to attend emergency cases.

The statement said patients, who were to see their doctors on Friday, would have their appointments rescheduled. Meanwhile the State Protocol Department in a statement said the bodies of the doctors would arrive at the forecourt of the State House, Osu on Friday, September 23, at 0600 hours for filling past from 0830 hours.

The statement said President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Aliu Mahama would pay their respects as well.

The burial church service would take place between 0900 hours and 1100 hours after which the bodies would be buried at the Osu Cemetery. The doctors, Professor John Kwateboi Quartey; Dr Isaac Bentsi and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe were killed in a motor accident on the Accra-Kumasi road on August 27, 2005 while they were returning from an outreach programme in Sunyani.
