The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 elections Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has vowed to sign the Anti-LGBT Bill into law if it is upheld by the Supreme Court as constitutional.
In a recent media encounter, Dr Bawumia stated that he would sign the bill into law if it is deemed constitutional by the Court.
"The bill is currently before the Supreme Court, and there have been challenges regarding its consistency with the constitution, once the court clears it as constitutional, signing it should be automatic, there will be no hesitation, no conditions,” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said.
The Supreme Court has yet to deliver its judgment on the bill, which has faced multiple injunction applications aimed at preventing its progression to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for final assent.
The Court has opted to issue a ruling on these applications alongside its final judgment on the bill.
