No major decision can be taken in the energy sector without my inputs - Damongo MP

Adam Mutawakilu, MP for Damango constituency Adam Mutawakilu, MP for Damango constituency

Ranking Member of the Mines and Energy Committee in Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Damango constituency, Adam Mutawakilu has touted his importance on the committee, saying no major or important decision cannot be taken without his inputs.

According to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Damongo, he is able to bulldoze his way through with the Energy Minister by threatening him with his role on the committee.

In what can easily pass for a self-aggrandizing exercise, the MP said “whether they like me or not, I am always part of every decision. Because they don’t like me but they can’t drive me away and that is why sometimes foreign trips I pick my other colleagues to go in the committee, sometimes I go myself because they need me to understand what they’re doing and when they bring it to Parliament I will scrutinize it the way it should be scrutinized. So I don’t think I will go to the Minister of energy with an issue and he will tell me Garlus I won’t do it for you because you’re not an NPP. He will come and meet me at the committee as well. I have to be very frank, you will come and meet me at the committee and I will say it in front of you. You will come and meet me at the committee and you will need me. If you pass it by Majority decision we know what we will do”

Mr. Mutawakilu was speaking to PAD Fm a local radio station based in Damongo and monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
