Residents of Kumasi in the Ashanti region have been assured of a sustainable power supply.

The assurance was made by the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko at the inauguration of the Old Tafo Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 15 March 2018.

He said he will pay primary attention to the electricity needs of the people of Kumasi and its environs.

"I want to assure the citizens of Kumasi that as Minister of Energy and the son of Kumasi from Ashanti Newtown, I'm sensitive to the electricity needs of the people in this place," he said.

"I’ll therefore make a promise that I will pay primary attention to the electricity needs of Kumasi and its environs," he assured.

Government on Thursday, 15 March 2018, inaugurated the newly created 38 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.

The inauguration of the 38 MMDAs falls in line with government’s agenda in bringing development closer to the people. This has brought the number of MMDAs in Ghana to 254 from the previous 216.
