No politician should mess around with Ghanaians; stronghold myth shattered - Ablakwa

MP for North Tongu MP for North Tongu

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has cautioned his fellow politicians against taking the Ghanaian electorate for granted.

According to him, the outcome of the 2024 elections has taught politicians a lesson to take the electorate seriously and serve them well, lest the politicians in office are kicked out.

In an interview with TV 3, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who is a former Deputy Minister for Education stated that no seat can be declared safe for any political party going forward as shown by the results of the just ended election.

"Now, there is no safe seat, there is no safe region in Ghana. If you are a traditional politician thinking that at least I can run to my stronghold, I will run to this region I will get refuge, at least I will never go below 45-46%, all of that myth has been shattered by the 2024 election. And all of us political actors must wake up that don't mess around with the Ghanaian people, don't take them for granted, You have to accord them the respect they deserve. I hope that will guide us coming into government."

"What this results show is that you the political class be careful. When we give you the mandate we haven't given you the power to come and full around, to come and loot, to come and impoverish us and worsen our plight. We give you power so that you improve our lot, so that you respect and value us. If you don't do what we want you to do, we will punish you," the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament said.
