Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that nobody is above the law in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

According to him, claims that he decides which executives he wants to work with and those he cannot are malicious and unfounded.

He says although he is willing and ready to work with people with divergent opinions, he cannot work with party members who engage in acts that can affect the chances of the party in the upcoming elections.

“I reject out rightly the malicious refrain that I decide people in the NPP that I can work with and those that I cannot work with…my training and practice as a lawyer and politician thrives on divergent opinion. I have worked with people whose politics I do not like. When I was in parliament I worked with different people different committees and we produced works that we were all proud of.

“I, however, cannot accept and tolerate members who work to derail the party’s chances of winning the elections. It is important to note that in the NPP nobody is above the law including myself,” the former attorney said saturday at the extraordinary congress of the elephant at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region.

He revealed also that the troubles that have afflicted the party have given him serious cause for worry over the last few months.

“I wish we had been able to find a less painful way to address the problem that has bedeviled our party, I have been involved in ways to resolve it and I must admit it has been very frustrating”.

Meanwhile, Former President John Kufuor has charged members of the New Patriotic Party to immediately stop the "infighting" that has bedeviled party.

According to him, although the party has the ability to win the 2016 elections, it cannot do so if they continue to fight among themselves.

“ We must be honest with ourselves, there has been so much infighting within our ranks and we must put an end to it from here.

“ The NPP must yearn to bring on board all those who are willing to come on board. That is how a democracy works. All regional chairmen of the party must see themselves as servants and I trust our candidate can win. We should be looking at 54 and 55 percent for our flagbearer. Whatever differences we share let it be internal, outwardly we must show that we are together. We need everybody. If we can come together, we can see victory way before the election.

"We tend to suspect ourselves too much. We must sacrifice to capture the power that is beckoning us. We need everybody. From here let's stop all that and move on," he said.

The Sunyani congress also saw the party announce members of its campaign team for the 2016 elections
