The former Ashanti Regional Deputy Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sani has launched a scathing attack on the former President Jerry John Rawlings saying Ghanaians will not celebrate the June 4 Uprising if the latter dies.
He said Ghanaians are fed up with Mr Rawlings' public utterances and will not waste their time celebrating June 4.
The former military leader on Sunday at Wa called on members of NDC to revisit the ideals of the uprising by desisting from engaging in corruption, greediness and cronyism.
But speaking on Abusua FM's Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Alhaji Sani called on Mr Rawlings to 'shut up' saying he (Rawlings) is no more relevant in the political space of Ghana.
He questioned the relevance of the celebration of June 4 indicating that the days of military brutalities on citizens are over calling on the former military leader to 'wake up' from his slumber.
'He should make attempts to die if anybody will waste his/her time to celebrate June 4, whats so special about June 4? People are fed up with his public utterances on daily basis. Rawlings should know that June 4 is over, happenings during June 4 can never happen, our laws have been reviewed over the years. He should know that he is no more relevant, people have stopped paying attention to him. He should know that people are no more afraid of him. Rawlings should stop disturbing our ears with June 4,' he pointed out. He questioned if Mr Rawlings accounted to the populace when he was voted out of office, warning him to keep mute to prevent him (Alhaji Sani) from disclosing his secrets.
The former deputy chairman of NDC claimed Mr Rawlings wants to take over the NDC from its members hence his blasting of party leadership over the 2016 electoral defeat.
He entreated the former President to do away with his bitterness he has for some party members, saying the only party Mr Rawlings can take over is his wife's party National Democratic Party (NDP).
"NDC has owners, no individual can take up the party again, the party has inheritance plans which are duly followed, he is not the only founder, there are other founders of NDC. The party belongs to the grassroots who can elect our leader, nobody should pay attention to him, he has few NDC members as his followers," he said.
According to him, Ghana is progressing at a top speed without any intimidation from people like the former President who wants every citizen to do his will.
