Kyebi,(E/R), Sept. 26, GNA - The nomination of a successor to the late Okyenhene, Osagyefo Kuntunkunuku II, took a different turn last Friday.

This was after a Koforidua High Court had granted an order of prohibition restraining the Asona Abusuapanin of Kyebi, Kwabena Akowuah, from nominating or attempting to nominate a candidate for consideration as Okyenhene.

The order will remain in force until the determination of the membership or possible candidature of the applicant, Nana Okoree Akrasi Agyemang, a royal of the Kyebi Asona family, has been resolved.

As at Saturday, September 25, copies of the High Court Order had been pasted at the entrances to the Oforipanin Fie, the Okyehene's Palace, at Kyebi where some royals and kingmakers of Okyeman Council were holding a series of meetings.

In the absence of a queenmother, Abusuapanin Akowuah was expected to nominate a successor to the late Okyenhene for consideration by the kingmakers of Okyeman Council by the end of this month.

Nana Agyemang was one of the candidates who contested for nomination as Okyenhene in 1973 after the death of Nana Ofori Atta II in that year.

When Abusuapanin Akowuah and Nana Kena Ampaw, Adontehene and acting president of Akim Abuakwa Traditional Council, were contacted, they declined to comment on the injunction.
