The 2024 nominees of the prestigious Forty Under 40 Awards have embarked on a tree planting exercise in support of the environment at Okaikwei North District near the Achimota overpass.

The project, dubbed "Plant More Trees Project," is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of Xodus Communications Limited. It saw the planting of trees to champion the theme for this year's event, "Sustainable Development and Environmental Stewardship."

The tree planting exercise on Thursday, August 1, was done in collaboration with PayAngel (Ultimate Sponsor of the award), WeCare, FeDems, National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme, and the Okaikwei North District.

During the exercise, Chief Executive Officer of Xodus Communications Limited, Richard Abbey Junior, said the exercise is in accordance with the company's mandate to support and protect the environment. He thanked Dr. Opoku Mensah of WeCare Foundation for the technical support.

According to him, the gesture will go a long way to vegetate and prolong the existence of mankind and all living organisms on earth.

"Trees are important in giving life, and without trees, we cannot breathe. Therefore, we called on our nominees for this year's award, sponsors, and stakeholders to assist in the Green Ghana project," Mr. Abbey Jnr stated.

Excited about the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Okaikwei North Constituency, Honourable Boye Laryea, thanked Xodus Communications Limited for contributing to protect the environment by planting more trees. He also assured the team that the plants would be well taken care of to provide the purpose for which they were planted.

"We are happy, generally, to have Xodus Communications, nominees for the 2024 Forty Under 40 Awards, and sponsors embark on this resounding initiative you are putting down here," he said.

This year's Forty Under 40 Awards will be held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on Friday, 7th September, to celebrate and salute young achievers under forty years.
