North America Brong Ahafo Natives Donate $131,000 Hospital Equipment

COUNCIL OF Brong Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA), an umbrella body of various associations of natives of Brong Ahafo resident in North America, has donated assorted medical equipment over worth over $130,000 to the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

The equipment, which included electric hospital beds, pediatric exam tables with scales, infant bassinet beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, pallet of mixed medical supplies, among many others, are expected to enhance quality healthcare delivery at the hospital.

Presenting the logistics to the management of the hospital on Tuesday on behalf of COBAANA, Darko Opoku, Assistant Professor at the Department of Africana Studies at the Oberlin College and Conservatory, assured the public that COBAANA would continue to support the Regional Hospital to be a centre of excellence so as to provide best medical services to the people in the region and beyond.

Prof Opoku noted that as indigenes of the region, it is their moral obligation to help in the development of the region.

Dr Abebrese said the hospital's relationship with COBAANA has been very positive, saying, 'We will not forget the contributions of COBAANA.He was hopeful that the relationship would continue to grow from strength to strength to benefit the people of the region, while assuring the donors that the hospital management would ensure that the logistics are maintained and are used for the intended purposes.

The ceremony also coincided with a donation of pulse oximeter used in checking oxygen saturation in the blood and various medications to the hospital by Comfort Buahin, a retired nurse based in London who is also a native of the region. Present at the ceremony was Mr. Edward Twum Anane, lecturer at Catholic University and founder of Brong Ahafo Excellence Awards.
