North Kaneshie Presby marks 5 yrs with blood donation

Members of the North Kaneshie Presbyterian Church have donated blood to the National Blood Bank to mark their five years anniversary.

The exercise, organised through a health-walk, was first in the series of activities to highlight and create awareness on the need to stock the blood bank of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Dr Kwame Ayisi, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), who is also the Chairman of the Christ Family Health Committee of the Church, told the Ghana News Agency that healthy and active lifestyles were beneficial to the nation and ideal for businesses.

He said: “Walking to sustain your life is in line with healthy lifestyle behaviour which the church is promoting as well as voluntary blood donation and health screening on awareness creation through the health-walk.”

Dr Ayisi sensitised the members who were later screened on Hepatitis ‘B’ and given free dental examination supervised by Miss Sophia Blankson of the Korle-Bu Blood Bank.

Reverend Philip Annan-Nai, District Pastor of the Church, advised the members to adopt healthy lifestyles by exercising daily to prolong their lives in addition to their Christian disciplines of prayers, fasting and bible studies.

Mr Samuel Owusu Ofori, Chairman of the Planning Committee, said on December 14, 2014, the North Kaneshie District, comprising Christ Family, Firtz Ramseyer, Bethel, Industrial Area, Glory Agyapaye and Bubiashie congregations would climax the event.
