Northern Easter School to be held at Wa

This year's Northern Easter School under the theme: "peace, stability and development in Northern Ghana'' would be held at Saint Francis Xavier Junior Seminary at Wa from April 11 to 16.

Mr Mathias Puozaa, Assistant Director of the School, said this year's theme would be handled in study group discussion, lectures, symposia and an open forum.

He said each group's findings and suggestions would be submitted to the government in the form of an action plan for implementation.

''The theme has been appropriately chosen against the backdrop of chieftaincy, land and ethnic conflicts that has plagued northern communities in recent times.''

The Northern Easter School, organised annually by the institute of Adult Education of the University of Ghana, brings together intellectuals, professionals, public servants and representatives of civil society organisations to deliberate on issues affecting development in the three regions.

The venue is rotated among the three regional capitals of Tamale, Bolgatanga and Wa annually.

According to officials of the IAE in Wa, this year's school should have been held at Tamale but has been shifted to Wa because of the state of emergency in the Dagbon area.
