Northern Politicians urged to focus on development of the North

Bolgatanga, March 26, GNA - Politicians of Northern descent, especially Members of Parliament and Ministers of State have been challenged to give more attention to the development of the Northern regions.

The Builsa North Youth Wing of the Friends of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated this in a congratulatory message signed by, Mr. Akamank Azantillow, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga.

The statement cautioned those 'Northern politicians' who have been given positions not to betray Northerners but to work harder to justify their appointments.

"We pray sincerely that you will discharge your duties with honesty, sincerity and diligence to uplift the image of Northerners and the country as a whole," it emphasized. The statement congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills, and the Vice President, John Mahama, for their election to the highest offices of the land, and noted that the victory came at the appropriate time when God needed leaders like them to salvage Ghanaians from the suffering they were undergoing.

The message also commended the President and his team for giving Ministerial positions to many Northerners and urged him to consider appointing more in other positions. It commended the party executive across the country, especially the National Executives for working assiduously for the party to re-gain power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The statement urged all party members not to relent in their efforts, but to redouble their campaign activities to win more people to the party, especially those sitting on the fence, stressing that 2012 is just closer and "we must start campaigning now and not to rest on our oars".
