A section of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region has called on the hierarchy of the party across the country to commit themselves to unity to ensure victory in the 2016 election.

They said: “Unity is the only ingredient that can give victory to the NPP in the 2016 elections,” and stressed the importance of dialogue to solve problems within the party.

Alhaji Alhassan Adoo, former Regional Chairman of the party stated that the party needs a united front to move towards the 2016 elections and urged all the regional and national executives to desist from all forms of negative attitudes and move towards unity for the sake of the party.

Alhaji Adoo who was addressing a news conference in Tamale at the weekend said it is only unity that could win the 2016 elections for the NPP, adding: “I am calling on all the regional and national executives to iron out their differences for unity towards the 2016 elections”.

Alhaji Kaleem Ibrahim, a member of the Popular Front of the NPP in the Region and a Member of the Communication Team, said the group is wishing for the good leadership qualities of the NPP in the next elections to turn the fortunes of the country around.

He indicated that the former regime of the NPP saw massive improvement in the country’s economy and introduction of positive policies that improved the lives of many people.

He said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the party’s flag bearer is the only candidate that could redeem the country from its current state.

Alhaji Ibrahim called on all the bigwigs within the party to galvanise their energies and resources towards victory in 2016 saying, “It will be a big blow if NPP fails to win power in 2016”.

He claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has failed the country in its policy directions.

He said the National Health Insurance Scheme, National Youth Employment Programme and many other laudable policies introduced by the NPP have been destroyed by the NDC.

Alhaji Ibrahim said it is only the NPP that could deliver the country from the current economic and financial hardships.

“Our economy has nothing to write home about given the depreciation of the cedi and the high cost of living in Ghana,” he said.
