Notre Dame Girls Secondary school wins debate on AIDS

Sunyani (B/A) Nov. 19 GNA- Notre Dame Girls Secondary School (NODASS), on Thursday beat Sunyani Secondary School (SUSEC) in a debate competition organised by the Brong-Ahafo Regional HIV/AIDS Committee, as part of activities to commemorate this year's World AIDS Day, slated for December 1.

The debate, which was on the topic "Women Are The More Vulnerable Gender to HIV/AIDS and Therefore Need Protection", was jointly organised by the Regional Directorate of Ghana Education Service, on the theme: "Protecting Women and Girls Against the Spread of HIV/AIDS". NODASS spoke for the motion while SUSEC spsoke against it. NODASS received a 20-inch colour television for its prize while SUSEC received 14 inches coloured television.

Mrs. Darling Owusu-Antwi, the Regional Director of Social Welfare who chaired the function spoke against pre-marital sex especially among students and implored them desist from the practice and rather concentrate on their studies to become useful citizens in future.
