Nsuta-Ashanti citizens appeal for assistance

Nsuta-Ashanti, April 17, GNA - The chiefs and people of Nsuta-Ashanti in the Sekyere West district have appealed to stakeholders in the water sector for assistance to solve their perennial water problem.

Mr Kwabena Owusu, Chairman of Nsutaman Youngsters Club, made the appeal at an Easter fund-raising harvest organized towards provision of potable water for the town.

He noted that following the destruction of some pipes during the construction of a new road, the residents had for sometime now been forced to fetch water from hand-dug wells which posed a health hazard to them.

Mr Owusu said most of the residents had been infected with diseases like typhoid fever due to drinking contaminated water.

He also appealed to Government to allocate a bus to Nsutaman Catholic Senior Secondary School, which served many communities including the Afram Plains portion in the district.

Mr Haruna Oppong Boateng, Sekyere West District Chief Executive, announced that feasibility studies had been made and Government was providing funds to supply potable water to the town and its surrounding communities.
