Nuncio ask youth to strive to be good persons

Kwahu-Nkwatia, Aug 16, GNA - Most Rev. George Kocherry, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, has called on the youth to aspire to become good future leaders.

He told them to uphold virtues like honesty, love and obedience to elders, teachers, priests and parents to enable them develop a new generation that would be of service to the nation. Archbishop Kocherry gave the advice when he confirmed 150 faithful of the Catholic Church, most of whom are students of the St Peter's Secondary School at Kwahu-Nkwatia on Sunday, as part of his pastoral visit to the Kwahu South District.

He noted with concern that vice was on the increase in the world and said "God will be prepared to smoothen the paths of mankind if they would turn from their wicked ways and seek for his mercy through persistent prayer and reflection on his word."

Archbishop Kocherry spoke on the attributes and significance of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles on the day of Pentecost and told the confirmants to reflect on the goodness of Christ and commit themselves to spreading the gospel in deed and speech.

"However, if in the process, some of you receive God's call to become priests and religious, you should avail yourselves of the golden opportunity to serve God for his people", he stated.

The Nuncio met the Headmaster and staff of the St Peter's Secondary School and their discussions centred on educational and social issues.
