Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has described the authors of a letter addressed to him informing him of his suspension from the New Patriotic Party as "gaping sycophants".

In a statement, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founder-member of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo family referred to the development as "a purported attempt to suspend me from the party".

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stated that: "I treat with contempt, the letter purportedly written by the Greater Accra Regional executives of the NPP on the 31st of December, 2015 suspending me from the party. The authors are just "gaping sycophants".

He added that "the authors were in such a haste to attack me that they failed to respect the time-honoured principle of giving an accused the opportunity to face his accusers and defend himself. This so-called suspension is of no moment and I will continue to fight for NPP's ideals. They quote the Party's constitutions without the awareness that some of us brought that constitution into being with our sweat and blood".

Referring to ongoing issues in the NPP, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe lashed out at those he called "fascists" within the Party.

He argued that: "As a statesman, in recent times, I have heeded counsel not to speak on party matters. However, I have never retreated from a fight so I will respond pound for pound. Please ask my detractors what the party has done to members who, among other things:

a) violently disrupted party parliamentary primaries leasing to criminal prosecution;

b) advocated that only Akans are worthy of ruling Ghana;

c) falsely attack His Excellency J. A. Kufuor and other leading members of the Party without basis;

d) violently disrupted public functions organised by other party members including senior citizens Attoh-Quarshie;

e) violently prevented elected Party officials from entering the Party headquarters;

f) havebeen caught on tape planning to mount dubious court cases against financial institutions to make money for their own pockets".

He alleged that "all of these people want to prove their allegiance to our flag bearer by running others down. They are counting their chickens before they are hatched. Instead of focusing on the 2016 elections, they are pursuing an agenda of rumour mongering".

Defiantly, he stated that: "I refuse to answer to fascists. I will answer to people like J. A. Kufuor, B. K. Adama, Tolon Naa Alhaji Yakubu Talli, Roland Al hassan, Dzato Kaleo, Alhaji Adbulai Issahaque, Peter Ala Adjetey, D. J. DaRocha, Dr. Dsane Selby, J. H. Mensah, Samuel Odoi Sykes, K. G. Osei Bonsu and those who laid the foundation of our party, and not these ignoramuses. Even the Greater Accra Regional chairman - who knows him in Greater Accra?"

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe confirmed his suspension to Class News’ Parker Wilson. “That I have been suspended indefinitely, that is true. I got a letter to that effect,” he told Parker Wilson in an interview,

It is not clear what triggered his suspension but Class News’ checks within the party say the Greater Accra leadership of the NPP found some of his past comments concerning the party unsavoury and a breach of some provisions of the NPP.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe becomes the fourth prominent member of the NPP to be suspended, but the first victim in 2016. Three national executives: Chairman Paul Afoko, Second Vice Chair Sammy Crabbe and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong were suspended in turns late last year for various acts of indiscipline.
