Nyakrom bank offers scholarship to three NYASEC students

Agona Nyakrom, March 22, GNA- The Nyakrom Rural Bank has instituted a scholarship for three needy but brilliant students of the Nyakrom Secondary school to enable them attain higher levels in education. Nana Obaatan Otoo, Local Chairman of the Bank announced this when he presented assorted books worth 2.5 million cedis on behalf of the board to Swedru Secondary School at Agona Swedru.

The books were Mathematics, English Language, Science, Social Studies, Business, Economics and chemistry.

He said the aims and objectives of the bank were to assist students who are needy but brilliant to enter tertiary institutions. Nana Otoo said the Nyakrom Secondary School students have enjoyed the scholarship scheme for the past seven years, adding that plans are far advanced to extend similar offer to other second cycle institutions in the Agona district.

The Local chairman said this assistance to schools and students form part of the social responsibilities of the bank to the people in the catchments area of the bank.

Nana Otoo called on the authorities of the Swedru Secondary School to take good care of the books to serve its purpose.

Mr E.K.T. Osam, Headmaster of the school, who received the books, thanked the board of the directors of the bank for their kind gesture. He appealed to the organizations, institutions and companies in and around the school to donate books generously to help stock school's library.
