Nzema East MCE provides buckets of paint to Kukuavile School for refurbishment

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, Frank Okpenyen popularly known as Franko has presented thirty-eight (38) buckets of paint worth GHC 2,700 to Kukuavile Methodist Primary School to refurbish the school.

This is part of the vision of the MCE to improve the quality of basic education in his Municipality.

Additionally, some 200 school children were given free footwear to boost their confidence in punctuality and regularity.

At the ceremony held at the school premises over the weekend, the MCE opined that the donation was in response to the request made by the management of the school when he visited the School to ascertain some of the problems confronting them and also inspect the ongoing teachers' bungalow.

Mr Okpenyen reaffirmed his commitment to maintain education as a priority as it remained the backbone of socio-economic development, irrespective of one's geographical location.

He urged the PTA to shun all cultural stereotypes that hindered the education of children, especially the girl-child, for an accelerated development.

He said, if this refurbishment is completed, it will ensure decency and comfort for effective teaching and learning.

He used the opportunity to thank the Member of Parliament for the area, Catherine Afeku for partnering him to donate the paints to the school.

"These buckets of paint that you see here today, Hon. Catherine Afeku our MP supported us financially and I always say that this MP has education of Nzema East Municipality at heart and I urge you to pray for her to serve this area for long", he revealed.

He added, "The people of Nzema East Municipality should benefit from the National cake and today we have brought some and I don't want these paints to lie in idle so when I was coming, I came with painters to do the painting for you and they will finish in two days time".

He therefore, appealed to the PTA to support the workers to complete the work on schedule.

He interacted with the school children and advised them to take their studies seriously since they are the future leaders of this country.

"It is my prayer that you will learn hard and become like Ministers, Teachers, Journalists, MCEs, Doctors, MPs and others and help this Municipality to grow. I also call on you to respect people and be disciplined", he advised them.

He also counseled them to refrain from deviant behaviours that will affect their future and respect their parents and also be God-fearing.

The MCE urged the school children to make good use of the footwear to achieve its intended purposes.

Frank Okpenyen used the occasion to encourage the teaching staff to work harder and urged them work with humility, patience and selfless in other to upbringing the children to become good future leaders.

He used the opportunity and admitted that the spate of development springing up in the Municipality in the last two years was unprecedented.

He would therefore continue to team up with the MP to redouble their efforts to accelerate development and boost the local economy.

On his part, the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Mark Tetteh, expressed his profound gratitude to the MCE for the kind gesture and appealed to the Assembly to complete the teachers' bungalow which was started by this current government.

He further praised the MCE and MP for their numerous contributions towards the welfare and development of the schools in the municipality which include the construction of teachers' bungalow for his school.

The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman for the school, Mr. Justice Asmah thanked the MCE for the gesture and added that the refurbishment of the school building will give a facelift to the school and the community.

He pleaded with the Assembly to renovate and complete the nursery school of the area which which started by the community and serves as a dead trap for the kids.

He reaffirmed the Headteacher appeal for the completion of the teachers' bungalow to ease the burdens of renting accommodation for teachers.

"The NPP government is doing well but our teachers' bungalow is so dearest to us because we don't have some, when teachers are being posted to the school they don't stay, I'm appealing to government to complete it", he bemoaned.
