Father of the 18-year-old final-year student from O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra, who was allegedly stabbed on campus on Monday, has revealed that he had promised to surprise his son after secondary school.

The victim was reportedly engaged in an argument with a schoolmate over whose father was wealthier.

The argument is said to have escalated into a physical attack where the detained student allegedly stabbed Edward Borketey Sackey.

The father, commenting on the incident, revealed he had promised to surprise him if he excelled in his exams.

He further revealed that an uncle based in Canada had also promised to come and take him to Canada so he would go and continue his education there.

Speaking in a media interview, Enoch Sackey, the father, said, "I have promised to surprise my son after his exams, but as we speak, the surprise can no longer be possible."

"His uncle, who is also based in Canada, had promised to come and take him to Canada, so he would go and continue his education there. I had promised to surprise him. I told him to excel in his exam and I would surprise him, but that cannot happen again," he said.

The suspect has only been identified as Godwin from the Visual Arts class.

He has been arrested by the police and is in custody.
