An educational package dubbed "Our Day Special" has been launched in Accra. It is aimed at motivating pupils in 50 first-cycle schools within Accra to achieve academic excellence. It is being organised jointly by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Kumasi Brewery Limited and Papaye Fast Food Centre. Launching the package, the Special Assistant to the Director-General of GBC, Mr.. Chris Tackie, said the Corporation is not only interested in entertaining its listeners, but also concerned with quality education of students. He said it is for this reason that much emphasis has been placed on educational programmes such as Spelling "B" to improve the vocabulary of pupils. The Managing Director of Papaye Fast Food Centre, Mr.. Samir Kalmoni, noted that education and discipline are the backbone of every nation. He said if these two important ingredients are pursued vigorously, it will do the nation a great deal of good. On behalf of her colleagues, a pupil of St. Peter's Mission School, Miss Linda Emefa, expressed concern about the increasing number of street children and the problems of child labour and prostitution. She challenged the organisers of the programme to help find lasting solutions to the problems. End
