Kumasi, June 13, GNA - Members of the Old Boys Association of the Opoku Ware school (OWASS) have unanimously resolved to put the past behind them and work to promote the progress of the school. They have also agreed to reconcile with the new headmaster, Mr Samuel Anokye and work with him to ensure that the school improved on its performance.
At a meeting in Kumasi on Saturday, the members further renewed their commitment and unflinching support to the infrastructural development of the school.
They also resolved to work for the removal of all suspicions and mistrust among members of the association and the headmaster. The members also appealed to the metropolitan archbishop of Kumasi, Dr Peter Kwsi Sarpong, to open up communication channels to facilitate the smooth flow of information among members of the association and the school management.
As mark a of the reconciliation efforts, members agreed to organise a home coming summit at the school early October, to rejuvenate the association and rekindle it support to the school. A delegation would also be sent to the school to fraternise with the students to boost their moral.
The Association severed ties with the school following the appointment of Mr Anokye as the headmaster last year. They accused him of not taking active interest in the activities of the association.
The Association therefore, abandoned all development projects initiated in the school and withdrew all assistance to the school. Mr Justice Brobbey, President of the association commended members for putting the past behind and resolving to work to promote the welfare of the school.
He said the old boys had a task to work to promote the interest of the school and appealed to them to commit themselves to promote the image of the school.
Mr Anokye, the headmaster, who was present at the meeting, pledged to attend old boys meetings and work with them to ensure the success of the school.
