...for Flaws in NPP Primaries in Accra
A leading member of the NPP in the Okaikoi North constituency says the Greater Accra Chairman of the NPP must be blamed for the problems associated with parliamentary primaries of the party in the region.
Mr. Kwasi Amankwah says the irregularities that have characterized some of the primaries in the region are a mark of incompetence exhibited by the leadership of the party in the region headed by Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
A number of NPP parliamentary primaries in the Greater Accra region have been thrown into controversies. Some results are even been challenged in court.
The primary at the Okaikoi North constituency itself has been plunged into controversy with the incumbent MP, Joseph Darko Mensah contesting the results of the election.
Mr. Amankwah told JoyNews in an interview that the irregularities and controversies area result of inaction on the part of the regional party chairman when they reared their heads earlier.
?This is the result of incompetence and lack of action when it mattered. Jake has failed us because of the unfair dealings and the way it has handled the problems in the region?, he said.
Mr. Amankwah was disqualified to contest the primary for the Okaikoi North constituency.
He has subsequently resolved to contest the polls as an independent candidate.
He said that he believes the candidate chosen to contest on the ticket of the NPP is not a committed member of the party as such he would not go back on his resolution.
?The woman they have elected is an NDC turn coat and this we all know. We cannot let her go away with it. I would contest as an independent candidate to secure the seat for the NPP. I would not compromise on this?, he said.
Mr. Amankwah is one of the numerous NPP members who have resolved to contest the parliamentary polls in December as independent candidates.
