Obuasi request double surface dressing for its roads

Obuasi The Adansi West District Assembly has called on the Ministry of Roads and Transport to reconsider its plans to give the Obuasi town roads a double surface dressing instead of an asphalt. Mr Kwame de graft Agyei, the District Chief Executive, made the call when he and some officials of the assembly led newsmen to inspect the roads. The rehabilitation of 30-Kilometres of Obuasi town road has been awarded for double surface dressing to Limex Bau and the project is being carried out in three phases. The first phase of 10 kilometres on which work started in April last year is expected to be completed in April next year. Mr Agyei said in view of Ashanti Goldfields Company's contribution to the country's economy coupled with its heavy trucks that ply on the roads, "we deserve nothing but an asphalt".
