Obuobia Darko donates to Wiaboma community

After years of living on salty well water, the chief and people of Wiaboman at Weija-Gbawe in Accra have expressed their gratitude to Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku for providing them a lasting solution to their age-long water problems.

According to the chief of Wiaboman, Nii Nunoo Wiabo also known in private life as Emmanuel Nunoo, the community has lived on the salty well water for years and also lacks basic needs that make life worth living, but unfortunately, their plea to the sitting Member of Parliament to help solve some of these basic needs yielded no results.

The chief, in an interview, told this paper that they were really grateful to Madam Obuobia-Darko for her swift response in solving their most pressing need for clean water.

Stating further that his people usually travel very far from Wiaboman village with yellow gallons to other nearby communities to look for clean and portable water each blessed day.

He told The Republic Newspaper in an interview that the Hon. Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Abra Comfort Rosemond, provided the community, sometime past, with a tanker of water to distribute to his people after they complained to her, but she could not sustain that kind gesture, hence their crying out to Madam Obuobia to assist in providing them a lasting solution to their water problem.

The Chief said he was more than glad when Madam Obuobia provided the community with a giant poly tank to store water and promised to fill it with clean water regularly.

To help sustain the supply of water continuously to the people, the chief stated that instead of charging Ghc3 per gallon, as it is done out there, the people would be charged 50p a gallon to enable them assist in filling the tank themselves.

Madam Obubua further donated to the village, a five (5) Phillip security light to be fixed at vantage points and added ten (10) chairs to be used by the chief, Nii Nunoo Wiabo, at his palace to enable him comfortably host his visitors.

Ms. Obuobia Darko-Opoku was supported by Weija-Gbawe NDC Constituency Executives led by the Chairman, Mr. Sam Asamoah, Secretary, Mr. Mettle Williams amongst others.

Ms. Obuobia Darko also commissioned another bridge she constructed in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency to facilitate the movement of the school children in the vicinity.

In an interview with Mr. Ahmed Yhaya Andam, the proprietor of Blessed Generation International School in the area, he disclosed that his school children are going to be the most beneficiary of that bridge.

Overjoyed Mr. Andam explained that due to the deplorable nature of the old bridge, NADMO had to demolish it, but never honoured their promise to replace it, and was for that matter happy and thankful to Obubua for doing the most honourable thing to put smiles on the faces of both young and old in the community.
