The Ghana Police Service has accused demonstrators of the ongoing #SayNoToGalamsey protest of blocking commuters from using certain roads.

GhanaWeb’s team at the protest scene captured a moment where the demonstrators prevented a bus filled with police officers from using a particular road.

The reason for this blockage remained unclear as these demonstrators formed a human barricade, singing patriotic songs to prevent the bus from moving.

Some officers eventually alighted from the bus to engage with the demonstrators, but they still refused to let them through.

At one point, a few protesters began throwing stones at the bus, prompting leaders among them to intervene and urge calm. Subsequently, the bus carrying police personnel retreated.

The personnel from the Ghana Prison Service who also attempted to use the same road were halted by the demonstrators.
