Oda ST Francis Secondary/Technical School holds graduation ceremony

Akyem Oda, June 4, GNA-Mr Dominic Acquah, the headmaster of Saint Francis Secondary/Technical school at Akyem Oda on Saturday noted with concern that even though students of today were lucky to have all materials for learning from books to computers some of them still complain about their academic work.

He reminded students that learning was difficult, adding that there was nothing in the world which was very easy. Mr Acquah, who said this at the second graduation ceremony of the school at Akyem Oda told the students that if they wanted to be prosperous in life then hard work and dedication should be their watchword.

The occasion coincided with the unveiling of a statue of Saint Francis of Assisi at the school.

The headmaster urged parents to help their wards by paying their school fees on time so that they would have the peace of mind to study. He wished the graduands good luck and advised the females among them to take care of themselves and not to give themselves up to men and to the boys and not to rush into early marriages. Mr. Acquah appealed to non-governmental organisations (NGO's) and philanthropists to assist the school to acquire a vehicle. In a speech read on her behalf, Mrs Stella K. Nanor, the Birim South District Director of Education reminded the graduands that they were going out as ambassadors of the school and should not do anything that would tarnish its good image.

She advised them to comport themselves, avoid bad companies and to stay away from such vices as drug addiction and smoking. Mrs. Nanor urged the teachers to do their best at all times, assuring them that Government would not relent in its efforts to support and seek their welfare. Prizes were later distributed to students who excelled in their various subjects. 04 June 06
