Odumase youth warn police; you’re not welcome here

The youth of Odumase in the Brong Ahafo region have declared their town a no go area for police.

They have vowed to attack any police officer who dares enter the town. This is their response to the alleged killing of a 28-year-old mechanic by police in the town.

Police have denied the crime but one officer is being held in connection with the shooting incident.

On Thursday, the irate residents chased away the Deputy Brono Ahafo regional Minister, Justice Samuel Yeboah and his entourage, including the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive and the regional Police Commander.

They had gone to the town to meet the bereaved family.

The youth are carrying their action beyond yesterday’s incident, threatening to attack any police officer in revenge for killing the mechanic.

Meanwhile, Kuuku Abban of Skyy FM in Sunyani has told Joy News calm has been restored there and businesses are operating.

But the youth, he said, are insisting they would not countenance the presence of any police officers in the area.

It seems opinion leaders there cannot help the situation, which is now in the hands of the youth, Kuuku Abban gathered.

He also confirmed an ongoing District Security Council meeting with the family of the deceased at the Sunyani West District.
