Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has on Friday, November 15, 2019 laid the necessary amendments in the 2020 Budget to rectify the omission of Volta roads in government’s critical road projects.

Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide told Kasapa 102.5 FM that the Minister this morning presented to the legislature, the full list in Table 21, attached as an addendum.

This comes after the Finance Ministry’s explanation that the omission of roads to be upgraded in the Volta region from the 2020 budget was a genuine and obvious error.

National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM had requested the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta to relay the 2020 Budget to capture the amendments of the alleged errors made in the case of Volta Region vis-à-vis the critical regional road projects.

For him, parliament is a House of Records, and hence government must do the right thing to reflect the changes, if indeed it was a mistake.

“Remember this is a budget presented to parliament, so that allocation has to be changed, which is the 1.2 billion cedis allocation made in appendix 6. We can’t just say its a mistake then we move on. I’m hoping that the government will do the right thing.

“This is a special dispensation to prioritize roads which Volta region has been left out. These amendments have to be carried out, so that we can be assured of the changes made.”
