On the 5th June, 2019, the member of Parliament for Oforikrom constituency HON. DR. EMMANUEL MARFO organized free Cervical Cancer screening for women in his constituency.

Cervical cancer is now ranked topmost frequent cancer killer among women between the 15 to 44 years of age in Ghana. Current estimate indicate that every year 3151 women are diagnosed with CERVICAL CANCER and 2119 die from this disease. Due to the high prevalence, which can be attributed to the low education on this subject matter. The MP in his address also attributed this to the fact that, most women do not seek medical screening for this cancer on time due to lack of funds and knowledge.

Therefore, as part of his commitment to promote the welfare of his constituents, he used part of his MP's NHIS project funds to organise this free screening to assist the women in his constituency fight against this killer disease.

Dr. Marfo, also pledged to continue and intensify the campaign on the dangers of Cervical and prostate cancer and also promised to organise a Free Prostate Cancer screening for the men in the constituency this year.

The Exercise was carried out by a medical team assembled by the Kumasi Metro Health Directorate.
The Metro Director of Health, Dr. Akosua Gyimah and her team took advantage check participants blood pressure, breast and war and throat and to educate the women on related health issues and advised them to embark on regular medical check ups on these diseases so as to prevent them or treat and cure them in its early development.

In all, about 300 women benefited from this screening and showed their great deal of appreciation towards the MP on the maiden exercise in the Metropolis.
