Ofosu-Ampofo endorsed as Parliamentary Candidate for Fanteakwa

Ahumahumaso (E/R), July 8, GNA - Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, National Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has observed that it was not enough for people to pray and strive for peace and ignore conditions that threatened the stability of the nation.

He, therefore, called on the citizenry to work towards the objective of ensuring peaceful Presidential and Parliamentary elections in December.

Mr Mensah was speaking at Fanteakwa Delegates' Conference of the NDC that unanimously endorsed the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo as the Parliamentary Candidate for the December polls. He called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure a level playing field for all the political parties to facilitate free and fair elections.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo, who is also the National Organizer of the NDC, said it was his desire to have all communities in the Constituency connected to the national grid, adding that through his initiative, the Energy Commission had agreed to provide solar power to 35 communities.

He said the Minister of Communication had given the assurance that Ghana Telecom had initiated moves to extend telephone facilities to the constituency soon.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo told his constituents that if re-elected as MP, he would ensure that they enjoyed potable water.

The Eastern Regional Secretary of the Party, Mr Anthony Gyampoh predicted NDC electoral victory since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had failed to honour its 2000 electoral promises.
