President of the Ogun Indigene Forum, Ghana Chapter, Hon. Bola Akinsanya has congratulated the President-Elect of Ghana, John Mahama on his election victory.

In a statement titled "Hon. Bola Akinsanya Congratulates H.E. John Mahama as President-Elect of Ghana," Akinsanya said the victory and peaceful conduct of the polls are a testament to "Ghana’s commitment to upholding democratic principles."

He encouraged President John Mahama to lead in the interest of all Ghanaians irrespective of party affiliations.

His congratulatory message comes after several other leaders across Nigeria had issued statements applauding the peaceful conduct of the polls and the re-election of Mahama who lost the election in 2016 to President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akuffo Addo.

On Monday, December 9, 2024, Jean Mensa the Chairperson of Ghana's Electoral Commission declared John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as Ghana’s president-elect after his resounding victory in the December 7, 2024, general elections.

Mahama secured a decisive win over his closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, with a remarkable margin of 1,671,093 votes.

This outcome marks a significant political shift and cements Mahama’s return to the highest office in the land.

Ghana’s former President John Dramani Mahama has won the country’s presidential election after his main opponent, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat.

“The people of Ghana have spoken; the people have voted for change at this time, and we respect it with all humility,” Bawumia said in a news conference on Sunday.
