Okaikwei NDC organise to win two seats

Accra, Nov. 8, GNA - A 10-member Okaikwei District Co-ordinating Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been inaugurated at the weekend in Accra with a call on its supporters to avoid hatred and work together to win the seats, come 2008 general elections. The committee, made up of both executives of the North and South constituencies of the party, had also been charged to stand firm and effectively monitor the branches in the constituencies and capture the Okaikwei seats.

Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe, National Women Organiser of the NDC who made the call urged the supporters to expressed their loyalty and commitment to the cause of the party by constantly rebutting any negative propaganda waged against it by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She said the NDC had done a lot of good things for the country in the area of the provision of development projects and laying of foundation for a stable economy but the NPP choose to ignore them and rather dwell on peddling falsehood about the party and its leaders.

She said the party would not be shaken by the recent resignations and appealed to the supporters to remain focused and organize themselves well in readiness for the 2008 general elections.

Mr Ato Ahwoi, a leading member of the party, who chaired the function, advised the supporters to embrace new comers into the party and to refrain from regarding anyone as a stranger in their fold, adding that such interactions would benefit the organization in the Okaikwei constituencies.

He expressed the hope that positive development at Okaikwei would be sustained to reflect in the results of the 2008 elections. Mr Ahwoi advised all supporters in the constituencies to start a serious mobilization in support of the party.

The co-chairmen of the North and South constituencies of the NDC, Mr Richard Armah Quaye and Mr Hamidu Musah respectively, expressed the preparedness to work together and capture the two seats. The Co-ordinating Committee, which was first of its kind to be organized in the constituencies has Mr James Osei Gyambrah as Secretary; Mr Emmanuel Attah, Ibrahim Musah, Margarette Afiso, Mustapha Mohammed, Prince Cephas Mensah, Zariatu Asiru and Augustus Eshun as members respectively. 08 Nov. 06
