Okyereko accident leaves woman dead, two unconscious and others injured

An early Sunday morning accident at Okyereko junction on the Kasoa-Winneba highway has left a woman dead and two persons unconscious with several others injured.

The accident, which happened at about 6:00am and caused by a VW Golf salon car with registration number GT 1020 C, involved two Mercedes Benz Sprinter buses.

An overtaking by the Golf car, driven by one Seth Mensah from Winneba to Accra, was said to have caused the two Sprinter buses to collide head-on killing the woman, who was occupying the front seat of one of the buses instantly.

Driver of one of the buses with registration, GG 2006-16 that was traveling from Accra to Takoradi is currently in a critical condition at the Winneba Government Hospital where the injured have are also receiving treatment.

Winneba MTTD Commander, ASP Charles Obiri, told Accra-based Onua FM Sunday morning that there were 21 passengers onboard the Sprinter bus with registration GG 2006-16, noting no casualty was recorded in the other bus with registration AS 7393-16 which was heading towards Accra.

Passengers on that bus were injured and are also receiving treatment.

The Police say investigations have commenced into the accident.
