Old Guards call for support for Mills

Kumasi, Jan.13, GNA - Members of the Old Guards Association of Nation= al Democratic Congress (NDC) have called on all Ghanaians to line up behind President John Atta Mills in the implementation of the 93Better Ghana" agenda.

They said a better Ghana could be achieved in a vacuum and that all the people would have to accept to work hard and make the necessary sacrifices. In a statement signed by Oheneba Asamoah Atuahene, the National President, and issued in Kumasi, they said policies of national interest must be placed above politics. "Paying realistic prices for what we consume, paying our taxes, obeyi= ng the laws of the land must be realistically addressed by every Ghanaian." The statement commended President Mills on his achievement as the fourt= h best President in Africa and said his conduct since assumption of office ha= d been characterized by humility, objectivity and downright forthrightness, which has won him the respect of his peers. "President Mills has clearly shown his commitment to social justice, national peace and democracy."

It asked the people to live up to their civic responsibilities to help lift the nation out of poverty and under development.
