Kenyase (B/A) Oct.7, GNA - The Kenyase Number One Traditional Counci= l in Asutifi District of the Brong Ahafo Region is constructing a new palace estimated at GH¢ 7.5 million. The palace situated on a 20-acre land is designed to include the private residence of Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, the Paramount Chief. The project, which is about 85 per cent complete, is being financed by the Traditional Council through private donations, the personal contributio= n of the Paramount Chief and part of the revenue accrued from the stool lands and mineral royalties.
Nana Abiri accompanied by the Registrar of the Traditional Council, Mr Stanford Owusu Brempong and Nana Anin Dankwah, Saamanhene (a sub-chief responsible for protocol of the Paramount Chief) took the Ghana News Agency round the site on Thursday.
The one-storey edifice has various divisions, comprising the office of the Paramount Chief, and the Registrar, conference hall, main court yard, information technology/business centre, archives/information centre and a car park. Nana Abiri said the chieftaincy institution exists to partner government to make life worth living for the people through interventions such as the judicious use of resources. "This motivated me and the traditional council to construct the pala= ce as a monument to replace the current one built more than a century ago", he said.
