Omanhene to tour Europe

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional area, is to tour some European countries in September and October this year.

His tour will take him to Germany, Holland, Britain and Belgium.

The visit will enable the Omanhene to interact with Dormaa citizens and launch the Dormaaman Development Fund to raise funds to support development projects in the area.

Osagyefo Agyeman-Badu is expected to talk to investors to invest in the country particularly in the traditional area to provide employment for the youth.

The Omanhene at the weekend said the Kwafie Festival of the people in the area, which was last celebrated 10 years ago, would come on next November.

A seven-member committee has therefore been set up to oversee the planning of the festival.

Osagyefo Agyeman-Badu expressed concern about increasing chieftaincy disputes in the area, which he said had affected development.

He mentioned particularly Dormaa-Akwamu, Abesim, Krakrom and Akontanim as areas where such disputes have increased over the years.

The Omanhene stressed the need for the various factions to use dialogue to resolve the disputes and expressed his disgust about the dispute over the burial and final funeral rites of Nana Abenaa Fema, Queenmother of Wamfie who died last year.

Osagyefo Agyeman-Badu hoped the Supreme Court, which is hearing the matter would expedite action on it.
