One died, 16 injured in road accident at Nkawkaw-Amanfrom

Koforidua, Feb. 18, GNA - One died and 16 passengers sustained vario= us degrees of injuries in a road accident that occurred at Nkawkaw-Amanfrom. Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua on Thursday, Mr James Sarf= o Peprah, the Eastern Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), said the accident happened at about 0005 hours on February 1 this year.

He said Kofi Brefo, a driver of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter with registration number GR 5526 Z, had 23 passengers on board and was traveling from Kumasi towards Accra. Mr Peprah said on reaching Nkawkaw-Amanfrom near Galaxy Oil filling station on the Kumasi-Nkawkaw motor road, the vehicle skidded off the road and ran into a ditch.

He said the 16 injured were receiving treatment at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital.

Mr Peprah said Sampson Konadu, 40, died soon on arrival at the hospital, adding that the body had been deposited at the same hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
