Accra, July 7,GNA - The police on Thursday arrested seven people suspected to be land guards after a clash between two groups over a land issue at a junction near Sowutum in Accra, during which one man was killed.
The Greater Regional Police Command said
the clash occurred at about 1200 hrs. at Borkorborkor Junction near Sowutum. It said the police moved in following a tip off that fighting had broken out between two groups,one from Nima and the other from Sowutum.
The police found a victim who was suspected to have been shot during the clash and he was identified as Musah Moro. His body has been deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Mortuary.
The seven arrested were Alex Kofi Agyeman 24, Derick Sampong 24, Kojo Folitse 25, Kojo Bellela, 41, Adams Achana 36, Micheal Nii Otoo Larkal, 32 and Charles Mensah 35.
Briefing the media, Mr Kofi Asiedu, Greater-Accra Regional Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) said during a search on them the following exhibits were found: one shotgun, 75 Rounds of AK 45 Ammunition, 9M 1.6 ammunition, 5 AA empty catridges, 2.9mm Spent Shells.
The rest are one 1.7 Spent Shells, 4 live 75 live Ammunition, and one pistol cleaner kit.
The police also found on the scene one land Rover with registration number AS 2801P, one Audi 100 registered as GT 5622N, and one unregistered Honda Motor Bike as well as a locally manufactured sword.
Mr Asiedu said that the police were investigating the case.
