One lynched another beaten beyond recognition

Kumasi, July 24, GNA- One of two suspected robbers was lynched whilst the other was beaten beyond recognition, when they were attacked by a mob after they were believed to have robbed a woman at Amakom in Kumasi early Thursday morning.

According to eye witnesses one of them is suspected to be a Nigerian and the other a Ghanaian.

The dead body and the semi-conscious suspect who were laying in a pool of blood a few metres away from each other alongside a busy road at Amakom were picked by the Asokwa and Zongo Police respectively. The eye witnesses told the Ghana News Agency who chanced upon the bodies that a woman who walked by the road side at about 0500hrs was attacked by the two at gun point to surrender her bag containing money, a mobile phone and other valuables.

The victim gave away the bag but raised an alarm which attracted some residents to the scene, but the suspects, who fired shots escaped, took refuge at the Amakom Royal Cemetery, while the mob still pursued. The suspected robbers later locked themselves up in a room, whose occupant had left for a place of convenience.

The eye witnesses continued that, the mob broke into the room and brought them out and subjected them to severe beatings which rendered the two weak until one of them died around 0800hr, before the Police came in for them.
