Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2012 election, Jacob Osei Yeboah aka JOY 2012, has attributed the ongoing power crisis and deficit to the use of incandescent (yellow )bulbs, adding that using CFL fluorescent bulbs can save the nation over 300 megawatts of wasted power, which is even bigger than what the emergency power plants are generating for Ghana currently.

Osei Yeboah , who is an energy expert therefore called on government to as a matter of urgency import at least one million CFL bulbs to compel the public to use , adding that it is the only way to conserve energy and bridge the energy deficit.

He revealed that he recommended for the CFL usage in 1994, as part of his project work at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) but the then government refused to implement his research findings.

He was speaking on "Common Sense", a segment on Okay, FM’s flagship programme, “Ekwanso Dwoodwoo” Monday.

Touching on the economy, JOY 2012, expressed worries about the dollarization of the economy and urged government to use the global supply chain system to ensure that raw materials for the manufacturing sector are purchased locally to reduce the usage of the limited dollar which would finally strengthen the local currency(Cedi).

He further noted that the extractive industry which consists of gold, bauxite, manganese as well as copper should be managed well to benefit the ordinary citizen.

He also said any politician without a handicraft which sustains him or her , is likely to steal from the people when voted into power.

JOY 2012 said when voted into office , he would use his technical capabilities and his experience as a successful entrepreneur to help accelerate the country’s development .

Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah is hopeful of actively contesting the 2016 presidential polls as an independent candidate.
