One week ultimatum to remove speed ramps- Gomoa DCE

Gomoa Obuasi, Feb. 4 GNA- Ms. Joyce Aidoo, Gomoa District Chief Executive (DCE), has given a one-week ultimatum to towns and villages in the district to remove all unauthorised speed ramps erected on the highways or face the full rigours of the law.

Giving the ultimatum at a durbar of chiefs and people of Gomoa Obuasi on Thursday, to climax their annual Akwambo festival, Ms Aidoo made it clear that it was illegal for people to take the law into their own hands by erecting unauthorised ramps.

She said when this was done it would be difficult for convoys of government functionaries and other dignitaries to use such roads. The DCE told people in the district that monitoring teams would be sent round to inspect whether the order had been complied with. Ms. Aidoo urged the executives of the various transport unions in the district to educate their members to obey traffic regulations. The DCE advised the people of Gomoa Obuasi to do away with all negative and divisive tendencies, and forge ahead in unity to help speed up its development and progress.

She assured the people that government would soon give approval for the reconstruction of the road linking Gomoa Afransi and Gomoa Ankamu to facilitate transportation of goods and services. Ms. Aidoo asked people in the district to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to promote quality health delivery.
